MEDICAL SUPPORT OVER THE XMAS CLOSEDOWN PERIOD.
Burnham Defence Health Centre will be closed from 12pm Tuesday 19th December 2023 and reopen 8am on Monday 8 January 2024.
We would like to remind personnel of the After Hours process and access to healthcare below.
For accident and medical emergencies, dial 111 for an ambulance or attend the Emergency Department at Christchurch Hospital, 2 Riccarton Ave or at a hospital near you.
For all non-urgent medical advice please phone Healthline on 0800 611 116
For acute illness or injury requiring urgent attention, after hours medical services can be accessed at an After Hours Health Centre nearest your home location or via the following:
Pegasus Health 24 Hour Surgery, 401 Madras St, Christchurch 03 365 7777 (take your ID card with you as this clinic can bill a portion to NZDF)
If you are admitted to hospital, make sure you notify your Command.
When you are being discharged home, ask for the paper discharge summary to take with you, notify Command you are returning home or if in Barracks, notify the Guard Hut that you are arriving home from hospital.
Payment at an After Hours Medical Centre will be required at the time you are seen and can be claimed for reimbursement at your local Defence Health Centre. Full receipts for the after-hours appointment and any prescription charges as well as copies of the notes for your health records are required to support your MD990 claim.
