Welfare & Holiday Homes

Welfare Homes

RNZAF have homes available for defence members and their whānau to hire. Two fully furnished houses are available to rent for a period of up to seven days at a reasonable rate by base personnel who contribute to the Base Welfare Fund.

Examples of situations where a family home might be used include: NZDF personnel living in single accommodation who have dependants visiting and require larger accommodation; personnel who are here on overseas exchange; personnel visiting base before a posting to Ohakea; family visiting living-in personnel or visiting the area.

For information about rates, priorities for bookings and application forms, please contact Non-Public Funds (NPF) at the Ohakea Service centre. More information available on DXIS.

Holiday Homes

The Base Welfare Fund manages a number of holiday homes around New Zealand. Houses are available for use by military personnel and their families as well as civilian employees and members of associated organisations such as the NZ Army, Navy, Fire and Emergency NZ, NZ Police Force, and Returned and Services Association.

Holiday accommodation booking requests must be made by the NZDF employee via the Defence Intranet Site or by contacting the Non Public Funds (NPF) booking clerk. These welfare holiday houses are balloted during the holiday periods to make sure all our families have an equal chance of enjoying their benefits. Each service has different criteria for ballot periods and entry eligibility. More information is available on DXIS.
